Four Seasons Lake Austin Holodeck(FSLA) XR Experience

The Four Seasons Lake Austin (FSLA) is an upcoming luxury and resort-style residence. To reach the sales target necessary to acquire additional funding for property development, I was hired to create and lead an operations team in charge of the virtual touring experience. These virtual tours aided in providing open houses for potential buyers, utilizing cutting edge real-estate visualizations in mixed reality (XR).

After being onboarded to the project, I hired and trained a team of five competent XR professionals. Using real estate visualizations produced by PureBlink and ported to Unreal Engine by Dbox, we collaborated with Agile Lens to create and maintain the virtual reality (VR) experience necessary for the open house tours. Onsite, we were responsible for the research and development, quality assurance, operations, and maintenance of all systems. My team was also responsible for addressing stakeholder requests and implementing improvements to the XR experience. The FSLA Holodeck experience has been complimented by feedback and discussion with some of the interactive industries greatest including John Carmack, Amanda Watson, Paul Paul Debevec, and many more.

Business Achievements

I recruited and managed an operations team of five, responsible for all onsite operations, maintenance, fabrication, and testing regarding the “Four Seasons Lake Austin Holodeck Experience”.

As a result of my team’s involvement, we were able to showcase FSLA’s unbuilt properties to over 200 potential buyers with a real estate portfolio of at least $15 million dollars. With a completion rate of 100% for each tour, we assisted the FSLA project with achieving its sales target for ongoing planning and construction.

I coordinated hardware and software development and testing of the “Four Seasons Lake Austin Holodeck Experience” with PureBlink, Dbox, Agile Lens, 209, Meta, Pimax, Varjo and others working on the project to meet the evolving needs of our client.

I managed all operations for Four Seasons Lake Austin Holodeck traveling to Aspen in August 2023.

October 2023 our team was invited to Meta San Francisco campus to share our development, operations, and technical feedback using Meta Quest devices.

Technical Achievements

I collaborated with Agile Lens, 209 to develop mixed reality world scaled hardware and software procedures for calibrating and troubleshooting opti-track motion capture systems.

Ensuring that my team was provided adequate resources, we were able to overcome technical roadblocks commonly faced in the XR industry. We ensure a best-in-class VR experience for 10+ headsets being operated wirelessly over Wi-Fi 6E by tracking and mitigating radio interference. We also worked directly with Meta to optimize video and audio encoding for their line of VR headsets. Allowing the experience to accommodate larger groups while not sacrificing experience quality or reliability of the wireless connection.

The hardware, documentation-+, and procedures for safety and best practices that I created, led to a 100% completion rate and a perfect zero injury record during +200 tours.

In August 2023 I collaborated to develop operations procedures to replicate the semi permanent Four Seasons Lake Austin Holodeck experience in Aspen for a week. My operations team worked with vendors to install the experience into the main ballroom of the St Regis Aspen Hotel in 2 days and tear it down in one.

Four Seasons Lake Austin Experience showcased at Unreal Fest 2023

Alex Coulombe with Agile lens, Neil Griffiths with D Box, and Jose Uribe with Pure Blink present this talk on the challenges of developing the FSLA experience on the main stage of Unreal Fest 2023. This talked particularly focuses on the processes of developing the experience in Unreal Engine 4 real time engine by Epic.

Walking through the Four Seasons Lake Austin experience installed in the St Regis Aspen Ballroom

My team created this walkthrough video to showcase the operations “behind the scenes” required to adapt the FSLA holodeck experience from a sight specific Mixed Reality experience with a multi month instillation process; into a pop up experience installed with in the span of 2 days too the St Regis hotel ballroom. This pop up experience was open for 1 week and then disassembled with in several hours.
